Autumn in the Cards

Late October mornings here in the high desert hills of north central Arizona are chilly with temps in the low forties.

The air smells sharp with the crisp aroma of leaves announcing their farewell until next year.

Autumn reminds me how life cycles through the stages, the season of endings before the winter sleep of regeneration.

It is a magical time of color-filled landscapes awaiting their final bow.

I draw the eight of cups, the card of release, of moving on, of leaving behind in order to make room for something better.

Much like the season, where vibrant colors shout their reds and golds as if to say, “Look quick because I’ll be gone tomorrow.”

It is not to see the dying of life but to embrace the its change.

Be as the leaves and dance your wild colors before winter’s northern winds force you inside.
